Which Spring Valley Records Are Open

Nevada law opens nonconfidential government books and records, but access turns on the record set and its custodian. Spring Valley has no city clerk or municipal records counter. Clark County holds the main land, marriage, property, court, planning, tax, and detention systems, while Nevada agencies keep statewide vital, prison, appellate, and license material. An “index” is a finding list, not always the filed image. “Access” may mean a free index, inspection at the office, an uncertified copy, or a certified copy bearing the custodian’s official attestation.

Sealed cases, adoption files, juvenile matters, protected addresses, account identifiers, and confidential parts of family or child-welfare files remain closed. Nevada DMV personal data also follows separate state and federal privacy rules. A custodian should still release a segregable portion, meaning the open material left after protected details are removed, when the governing law permits that split.

Spring Valley Records Follow County Lines

Many Spring Valley addresses use “Las Vegas” as their mailing city. That label does not put the parcel inside incorporated Las Vegas. Spring Valley is an unincorporated Clark County town, so county departments normally keep its planning, building, deed, assessment, business-license, and civic records. Use the Assessor’s jurisdiction field or Clark County GIS to verify the legal boundary. A ZIP code is not enough because postal zones cross local government lines. If an address lies in Las Vegas, Enterprise, Paradise, or Summerlin South instead, the correct custodian may change. This also explains why Spring Valley has no municipal court: Las Vegas Justice Court covers many limited-jurisdiction matters in the relevant township, while the Eighth Judicial District Court handles general civil, criminal, family, guardianship, and probate cases.

The Clark County Recorder Acclaim search indexes deeds, deeds of trust, liens and releases, homesteads, maps, affidavits, and other authorized filings. A grantor is the party transferring an interest; a grantee receives it. The public records index can return recording number and time, document type, book and page when used, party names and roles, APN, legal-description data, page count, and an image or order control when available.

The landing screen separates party, document, book and page, parcel, record-date, and legal-description modes so the search can follow the identifier on hand. The web index covers official records from 1988 forward, UCC records from 1986, and federal tax liens from 1984. Earlier material is not absent. The Recorder preserves records from Clark County’s 1909 creation on microfilm. Plain copies cost $1 per page, and certification adds $4 per document. Search results identify a filing, while a certified copy is the version formally attested by the Recorder.

Spring Valley Property Record Fields

The Clark County Assessor Real Property Records gateway searches by parcel number, owner, address, subdivision, parcel type, book and page, or parcel map. A parcel detail can show the APN, owner and mailing address, physical or situs address, jurisdiction, legal description, tax district, values, building facts, transfer references, and map links. Situs means the parcel’s physical location. It can differ from the owner’s mailing address.

The address form requires only a street name. It also offers street number, direction, type, a phonetic option, and a choice between the current parcel and present plus prior owners. If a street number is supplied, results may include addresses within three blocks. That broad match can help with an old or imprecise number, but each parcel must be checked before drawing a conclusion.

The present-and-prior-owner choice makes the assessment roll useful for a parcel history, while the Recorder remains the source for the recorded deed.

Spring Valley Court Record Channels

The Clark County courts records inquiry accepts a case number or a name in “Last Name, First Name” form. Advanced choices include party or nickname, attorney or bar number, business, cross-reference number, case number, and judicial officer. A public docket may show the case title and status, parties and roles, attorneys, judge, filing entries, hearings, and available images. A docket is the chronological case activity list, not the complete court file.

The Smart Search screen provides the public index, but access level and sealing rules decide which documents appear.

District Court clerk records reach to September 1909, with most material from 1990 forward searchable. Older name searches cost $0.50 per year and name. Copies are $0.50 per page; certification adds $3 per document. The clerk accepts case-copy requests by email at recordsrequest@clarkcountycourts.us. Include the case number, or complete party names and filing year if it is unknown, plus mail or pickup preference. Large or microfilm work may take two weeks. Counter service is at the Regional Justice Center, 200 Lewis Avenue, third floor, or Family Court, 601 North Pecos Road, first floor, weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; the records number is 702-455-2590.

Las Vegas Justice Court runs its own portal, and Nevada appellate cases use a separate state search. Federal District of Nevada files use PACER or free courthouse viewing. No statewide tool replaces the originating trial-court clerk.

Restricted Spring Valley Vital Records

Birth and death certificates have no public person-name index in the researched Nevada systems. Under NRS Chapter 440, the registrar must find that an applicant has a direct and tangible interest. A qualified applicant supplies identity, relationship or legal-interest proof, event details, and payment. Nevada’s official rules do not say that these certificates automatically open after a set number of years. Southern Nevada Health District issues Clark County births from 1972 and deaths from 1978. The Nevada Office of Vital Records holds statewide births and deaths from July 1, 1911, including earlier Clark County years outside the local windows. Each Clark County certificate costs $25. A failed death-record search produces a nonrefundable $10 search fee. Marriage works differently: the Clark County Clerk’s free public name index covers marriages performed from 1909 to the present, and a certified certificate costs $20. A Clark County marriage filing does not prove either spouse lived in Spring Valley.

Note: Adoption records are sealed under NRS 127A.230 and require a court order showing just cause rather than an ordinary records request.

Spring Valley Custody Record Lookups

The Clark County Detention Center inmate search accepts exactly one starting key: at least two letters of a last name, an inmate ID, or a Justice Court case number. Results may list ID, name, age, race, sex, case, charge and status, arrest date, detainer, bail, unit assignment, and scheduled court activity. It covers current custody only, omits minors and protective-custody cases, and warns that allegations are not convictions.

The locator answers custody status, while an incident or accident report must be requested from the LVMPD records unit through its separate process.

State prison records use the Nevada Department of Corrections offender search, which accepts an offender ID or first and last name. Federal custody uses the Bureau of Prisons locator. The Nevada offender registry is a separate public-safety system and expressly forbids use of its information to injure, harass, or commit a crime against a registrant or anyone at a listed address.

Spring Valley Public Records Custodians

A custodian is the agency official responsible for the requested record. Choosing the correct custodian prevents the general Clark County portal from becoming a dead end. The county warns that its general request channel does not hold police, detention, court, or vital records. Recorder and Clerk copies also follow their own order systems.

Spring Valley Records Before the Web

Clark County’s record history provides a real fallback for older Spring Valley research. The county began in 1909. Recorder files from that point survive, though early deeds, trust deeds, mortgages, mining notices, and marriages began in bound volumes. Recorder Paul Horn later had the 1909 to 1953 volumes microfilmed for security, with negatives stored in humidified steel cabinets inside a courthouse-basement fireproof vault.

Online cutover dates should not be mistaken for the start of the archive. The Recorder’s pre-1988 mail process requires the requester to obtain a page count from CCOROrder@ClarkCountyNV.gov before sending exact payment. The order form asks for book and instrument number, copies, pages, certification, requester contact details, and total cost. Payment must be a U.S.-bank cashier’s check or money order. The stated estimate is seven to ten business days, and this form cannot order marriage certificates.

The 2026 Acclaim interface also offers the free Recorder Notification Service for a subscribed name variation or APN. An alert supplies an instrument number to inspect, but it does not block a filing, prove fraud, verify title, or guarantee that every filing will match. Monitor both name variants and parcel numbers when the goal is notice of a new recording.

Requesting Spring Valley Public Records

The Nevada Public Records Act, chiefly NRS 239.010 and 239.0107, opens nonconfidential records for inspection and copying. By the end of the fifth business day, the custodian must provide the record or web access, state that the agency does not hold it, deny access in writing with legal authority, or give the earliest reasonable availability date. Copy fees generally cannot exceed actual reproduction cost. Extraordinary staff or technology work may carry a reasonable actual-cost fee explained in advance. Start with the record-specific index. It can provide the case, document, APN, permit, or license number that lets staff find the correct file. Ask to inspect or receive an electronic copy before requesting certification when that meets the need. A precise date range and record type reduce delay and extraordinary-use cost.

1. Identify the department that created or keeps the exact record series. Do not send court, police, detention, or vital requests to the county’s general portal.
2. Search the official index and save the name, date, case number, instrument number, APN, address, or other unique reference.
3. Submit the custodian’s portal, form, email, mail, or counter request. State the desired format and whether inspection, a plain copy, or certification is needed.
4. Ask for an estimate. Pay authorized copy, postage, certification, or extraordinary-use costs when the office requires advance payment.
5. If access is denied, request the cited statute and any segregable redacted portion. NRS 239.011 allows enforcement by petition in Nevada district court.
